About The Cardinal Haven Cooperative

The Cardinal Haven Cooperative, incorporated in May 1992, is a 46 unit manufactured housing community located in Charlestown, NH. Cooperatives are businesses owned by “member-owners”. Co-ops are democratically controlled by their member-owners, and unlike a traditional business each member gets a voice in how the business is run. Services or goods provided by the co-op benefit and serve the member owners. As a cooperative we differ from other businesses because we are member owned and operate for the benefit of members, rather than earn profits for investors.

The Cardinal Haven Cooperative at time of incorporation was set up with a managing board of directors, all of whom live in the park, maintain park needs, and help to drive growth and decision making. The member-owners elect the board every two years at the community's annual meeting. The owner-members then defer decision making and other incidental tasks to the board to ensure that the park is establishing/maintaining operating policies, and direct the cooperative toward its overall objectives. The board brings large decisions and information to the community at community meetings for an official vote.

We are a highly sought after community with lots rarely available and we can credit the popularity of the community to having the lowest park rent in the area, being well managed, and having an intention of growth and improvement. We have a Maintenance Team, Community Committee,  lot rent includes water and sewer costs, plowing and mowing of our main roads and communal spaces, and an annual sticker to the Charlestown Transfer Station.
